READ FROM THE REBBE'S OWN WORDS

1. "The leader of the generation is also the Moshiach (Redeemer of Israel) of the generation."   (Kuntres Beis Rabbeinu ShebeBavel, ch. 5)

2. "I will not be troubled if one will translate "Moshiach" literally, i.e., the righteous Moshiach, since that is indeed the truth. The leader of the generation is in fact Moshiach of the generation."  (Eve of Simchas Torah 5746, Hisvaduyos, unedited)

3. "In the same generation, all three (acrostic letters of 'MiYaD' [the Hebrew word for "immediately"]) are manifest: 'M' (Moshiach), Y (initials of both names of the Rebbe, my father-in-law--Yosef Yitzchak), and 'D' ('Doram'--their generation)."

In footnote 96, the Rebbe inserts: "It should be noted that Menachem is his [Moshiach's] name (Sanhedrin 98b)."  (Shabbos Yisro, 5752, ch. 11.  See Shabbos Tazria-Metzora, 5751, footnote 67)

4. "May we actually merit (the Redemption) immediately [miyad] with all the meanings of 'miyad.' This also includes the acronym of the leaders of generations in a general sense, Moshe, Yisroel (the Baal Shem Tov), and David (King Moshiach)."

In footnote 148, the Rebbe inserts: "And more specifically pertaining to our generation, the acronym of 'MiYaD' indicates the three eras of the Rebbe, my father-in-law, leader of our generation, [See Shabbos Vaeira, 5752, ch. 10], from the most recent in order: Moshiach (whose name is Menachem), Yosef Yitzchak, Dovber (the second name of the Rebbe Rashab)."

(Shabbos Mishpatim, 5752, ch. 13)

5. "The King Moshiach... stands on the rooftop of the Holy Temple and announces to Israel, 'Humble ones, the time of your Redemption has arrived'--as has been announced and is being announced lately... This announcement is coming from the diaspora..."

(Shabbos Chayei Sarah, 5751, ch. 12 and footnote 108)

6. "The Rebbes of Chabad, who trace their lineage back to the House of King David, of the tribe of Yehudah..."

(Shabbos Shemos, 5752, ch. 13)

[In reference to the Rebbe's father, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, of blessed memory, the Rebbe comments] "In addition, he actually descends from the offspring of David."

(Sefer Hasichos 5749, vol 2, p. 650)

7. "... that the arms reduction conference, its decisions and announcement took place in the city of the leader of our generation, indicates that all this came as a result of the activities and efforts of promulgating Torah and Judaism, justice and equity, throughout the entire world, which was and is being done through the leader of our generation, Moshiach of our generation."

(Shabbos Mishpatim, 5752, ch. 3)

Footnote 26 of the above reads: "It should be noted that the United Nations, whose goal is to spread unity and peace amongst nations, was established in the lower [i.e., Western] Hemisphere following and in close proximity to the time of the arrival of the leader of our generation in the lower hemisphere. (It began with the nations' resolution during the war, approximately in 5702 [1942])...and its location was established in the city of the leader of our generation, including the construction of its headquarters there (approximately in the year 5711) [1951, the year in which the Rebbe assumed the mantle of leadership].

"This attests to and emphasizes the fact that the unity and peace between nations is a result of the efforts of the leader of our generation in refining the world... As the world became ever-increasingly refined through the efforts of the Jewish leader, so too was enhanced the existence and stability of this organization, whose goal is to achieve unity and peace in the world..."

8. "In our present generation, the last generation of Galus [Exile], we are completing and perfecting our efforts in transforming this lower [i.e., Western] Hemisphere into [a spiritual] 'Land of Israel,' in the form of 'Beis Rabbeinu' [the house of our Rebbe]. This is a preparation for the complete Geulah [Redemption, which comes about] through our righteous Moshiach, the leader of our generation, who is in fact the Moshiach (Redeemer of the Jews) of the generation.

"Thus it is understood that since the 'Temple travelled and settled there' [in the synagogue of the leader of the generation, in the Exile], it follows that the future [Third] Holy Temple will first materialize there, and subsequently be transported to Jerusalem.

" 'Beis Rabbeinu' ['the house of our Rebbe'] has the address '770.' Indeed, it has come to be called by the name '770' by all Israel. This number is in fact the numerical value of [the Hebrew word] 'Poratzta' [a biblical word meaning 'you have jumped out.'] Our Rabbis interpret this to be a reference to Moshiach himself, as it states 'the Poretz [jumper, one who breaks boundaries, said of Peretz, ancestor of Moshiach] will rise up before us.'

"It should be noted that 'Beis Moshiach' [house of Moshiach] also possesses this numerical value of 'Poratzta'--770."

(Kuntres Beis Rabbeinu ShebeBavel, chs. 67 and footnote 92)

Footnote 38 of the above reads: "At the time of the arrival of Melech HaMoshiach [King Moshiach], he will stand on the rooftop of the Holy Temple and announce to Israel, 'Humble ones, the time of your Redemption has arrived!' This 'rooftop of the Holy Temple' refers to the miniature sanctuary of the diaspora(1) which substitutes for the Temple of Jerusalem."

9. "Moshiach Tzidkeinu [Our Righteous Moshiach], the emissary regarding whom it was said [by Moshe as he petitioned the Almighty] 'Please send the one whom You will eventually send,' namely, the [Previous] Rebbe, leader of our generation. This likewise applies to his successor, the continuation and extension [of his leadership] after him."

(Sichos Kodesh 5752, vol. 1, p. 318, unedited)

10. "The third period [of the Previous Rebbe's leadership] is the posthumous continuation of his leadership, following his passing. This began from the eleventh day of the eleventh month [Shevat] of the eleventh year (5711) [1951](2)....

"There was a great increase [during this current third period], greater and stronger than ever before, in the dissemination of the wellsprings [of Chasidus] abroad throughout all corners of the world, to the extent that the [Divine] service has been completed. Everything is already set and ready for the 'feast of the future,' the 'days of Moshiach.' "

(Shabbos Vaeira, 5752, ch. 10)

"...and specifically in our times, 'the days of Moshiach,' in which we find ourselves now..."

(Chof Kislev, communal Yechidus, 5752, ch. 7)

11. "There [in tractate Sanhedrin], in the beginning of the section discussing Moshiach, the Talmud relates: 'The academy of Rabbi Shila used to say, "His [Moshiach's] name is Shilo"...' [The Talmud continues to list each yeshivah in which the Rabbi of that particular yeshivah was considered to be the long-awaited Moshiach.]

"...And we, Chasidim, follow them and likewise proclaim (with regards to our Rebbes, and specifically the Rebbe, my father-in-law, leader of our generation). . .(3)

"...It should be noted that Rashi's interpretation [of the Talmud] is that 'Each one would teach and find proof for his [own] name,' e.g., the Rabbi himself, and not that the students would declare their teacher's name to be the same as that of Moshiach on their own initiative."

(Shabbos Tazria-Metzora, 5751, ch. 8 and footnote 67)

12. "We are immediately going to merit the fulfillment of the Messianic promise, 'As in the days of your Exodus from Egypt, I will show you wonders' with the coming of Moshiach, whose name is 'Menachem,' like the name of the Tzemach Tzedek [Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the third Rebbe of Chabad] - may he come and redeem us, and lead us proudly to our land!

"For inasmuch as the promise 'Awaken and sing, those who rest in the dust' will soon take place..., there will then be a [full] realization of the meaning of 'Menachem - King Moshiach!' "

(Eve of Rosh Hashanah, 5744, Hisvaduyos, unedited)

13. "As such, the Almighty's Geulah is actually brought about through His emissary, the righteous Moshiach, with all eight names [mentioned in Gemara Sanhedrin 98b] attributed to him. This includes also 'His name is Menachem.' [May this 'certainty' materialize] in a way that 'One points with his finger and exclaims "Behold! Here he is!" Here is Menachem, our righteous Moshiach!' "

(Rosh Chodesh Menachem Av, 5749, unedited)

14. "Today on this very Shabbos... the revelation of Moshiach should take place... that we [may] merit to hear the proclamation (throughout the whole world and throughout all the spiritual realms): 'Behold! Here comes Moshiach!' ("One will point with his finger and exclaim 'Here he is'!"), 'Behold! Here comes the Rebbe, my father-in-law, leader of our generation!' (as 'Awaken and give praise, those who rest in the dust,' and as the Righteous will arise to the Resurrection immediately prior to the Geulah)..."

(Shabbos Tazria-Metzora, 5751, ch. 14)

15. "...For every Chasid believes with complete faith that the Rebbe of his generation, just like the leader of our generation, is the Moshiach."

(Eve of the fifth of Sukkos, 5747, Hisvaduyos, unedited)

16. "When the [Previous] Rebbe issued his proclamations of 'Immediate Teshuvah will bring about immediate Redemption!' Chasidim publicized them with their own addition that this [the Rebbe] is him [Moshiach]..."

(Shabbos Naso, 5720, unedited)

17. [The Rebbe once received a letter from Rabbi Avraham Pariz, expressing his belief that the Rebbe is Moshiach. At a farbrengen (chasidic gathering), the Rebbe discussed the letter in the context of similar expressions during the lifetime of the Previous Rebbe.] "Actually, the Rebbe had never objected to Reb Avraham's thinking as he did. Moreover, there were probably various others who shared his belief, but did not express it in writing as he did."

(Shabbos Beshalach, 5724, unedited,
printed in Tzadik L'Melech, vol. 2, p. 64)

_______________

1. Editors Note: The thrust of the entire sicha is that '770' is 'the miniature sanctuary of the diaspora.'

2. Editors note: This is the day on which the Rebbe assumed the mantle of leadership.

3. Editors note: The Rebbe rarely refers to himself directly. Rather, he often describes his leadership as merely a phase in, and extension of, the leadership of his father-in-law. When referring to his own work and life, the Rebbe uses phrases like "the Rebbe, my father-in-law, leader of our generation." (See Sichos Kodesh, Shabbos Mikeitz, 5713, Sichos Kodesh 5752, vol. 1, p. 318, Sefer Hasichos 5752, vol. 1, ch. 15. For further explanation on this matter, refer to Likkutei Sichos, vol. 6, p. 283.)

SIGNING THE P’SAK DIN ON MOSHIACH

By Shlomo Rokeach
Translated By Michoel Leib Dobry, Tzfas
On Shabbos Parshas Mishpatim, 5752, the Rebbe MH”M spoke about the signing by rabbanim and other religious authorities of the p’sak din about the revelation of Melech HaMoshiach. Since then, HaRav Yitzchak Lipsh, Lubavitch Youth Organization Director of Tzfas, has visited the homes of Admurim, rabbanim, roshei yeshivos, and kollelim, and leading Torah giants throughout the world to encourage them to sign this historic p’sak din, which today bears nearly three hundred signatures. In a special interview with Beis Moshiach, Rabbi Lipsh provides revealing information about his meetings with the world’s leading Torah figures and their reactions to this momentous effort... * Part 2 of 2

(Continued from last week.)

It sounds as if you received immediate positive results from every rav that you visited?

Things haven’t quite worked out that way. I have met with many rabbanim, and I have been privileged to receive responses across the ideological spectrum. Some agreed to sign immediately, some signed only after a lengthy debate, others didn’t sign at all.

So, in effect, the work did not always bear fruit?

In my opinion, this is not a correct assessment. First of all, there were many rabbanim that agreed to sign, but not on an official p’sak din, rather in other forms. For example, one rav told me that he wants to sign together with the entire House of Israel on a general form of acceptance of the Rebbe’s sovereignty. There were rabbanim that asked us to leave the p’sak with them so they could sign it privately, without publicity. Some of them even explained why they are afraid to have their signatures publicized. There was a well known rebbe who signed but did not agree to have his signature appear publicly on the p’sak. There were also several rabbanim from Williamsburg who signed, but asked for the page to be left with them. Naturally, these signatures bear considerable importance even without their publicity, since the main point of the campaign is the spiritual influence that comes from such a rabbinical decision.

The campaign results in three levels of effect. First, the signatures cause the Heavenly Court to accept the p’sak din. Secondly, there is the essential fact that every rav that adds his signature to the p’sak din adds special vitality and enthusiasm to the subject of Moshiach. Third, great importance is attributed to every new signature, not just by people in general, but by other rabbanim, as well.

For example, one of the rabbanim whose signature appears on the p’sak din is HaRav Shaul Katzin, a prominent rabbi among the Syrian Jewish community in the United States. This rav visited the Rebbe together with HaRav Mordechai Eliyahu, and was well aware of the work of the Rebbe MH”M. Thus, there was no need for lengthy debate with him. In the merit of his influence, many other rabbanim also signed.

I remember when I visited with another rabbi in the Syrian Jewish community. When he saw that Rabbi Katzin had signed the p’sak din, this immediately changed his outlook. An hour later, he also signed...

I can tell you that even among the rabbanim themselves, there is revealed benefit. I know about a number of rabbanim who were most hesitant about whether to sign the p’sak or not. Yet, once they did sign, there received prestigious appointments shortly thereafter.

It is important to note here that even if the rav does not sign, our visit with him carries great importance. We all know that the subject of the Rebbe’s sovereignty as Melech HaMoshiach is a central issue, not just in Chabad circles. Many people come to their admurim and rabbanim with questions on this issue – and they want answers.

Many of these rabbanim have a strong connection with Lubavitch and the Rebbe. However, they are most unfamiliar with this issue. After our visit with them, they know much more. They learn the halachic sources, including the Rebbe’s sichos on the subject, and this changes their entire approach to the matter. Even if they are reluctant to sign the p’sak for their own personal reasons, the fact that they have warmed up to the issue is very significant. They express their opinion in internal forums – private conversations, tishim, etc. – and their supportive position is most beneficial.

One of the T’mimim from Ramat Aviv framed the p’sak din, and presented it as a gift to the President of the State of Israel, Mr. Moshe Katzav. The president accepted the p’sak and mentioned that HaRav Mordechai Eliyahu was supposed to be at the meeting, and that he will base his decision on how to relate to the whole matter according to what HaRav Eliyahu says. By Divine providence, HaRav Mordechai Eliyahu spoke at that meeting about Chabad with words of tremendous praise for all their wonderful activities. Naturally, this proved to be beneficial, and thus, we must strive in every way possible that people should speak in such a manner, even in private forums when we are not present.

I met once with a prominent rebbe from Yerushalayim, who had great respect for the Rebbe MH”M and his sichos. However, he heard that there are “different interpretations” of the sichos of ‎5751-5752‏. We suggested that he check things out for himself, and we brought the seifer “Z’man HaGeula,” which contains numerous sichos from ‎5751-5752‏, for that very purpose. When we spoke with him the following year, he stated that there is no other way to interpret the sichos.

During our conversation with him, he heard that the Pinsk-Karliner Rebbe had signed the p’sak din, and he immediately expressed his wonderment that he had not known this before. He said that in his list of signatories on the p’sak din, the Pinsk-Karliner Rebbe’s name does not appear. I was very satisfied from this meeting, in spite of the fact that this rebbe did not sign.

Why?

First of all, I was simply delighted to hear how rabbanim are following events in connection with new signatures on the p’sak din. Secondly, this rebbe now knows that the Rebbe clearly said that he is Moshiach, and this knowledge will be expressed in actual deed in a variety of ways.

This is not an isolated incident. Once I visited a certain rav and showed him the long list of signatures to his utter disbelief. “Are there actual sources to prove that the Rebbe is Moshiach today, after Gimmel Tammuz?” he asked quietly. I showed him a litany of sources, including the Yotzer on Parshas HaChodesh, “And he will conceal himself from them, return, and reveal himself,” and Tractate Sanhedrin. The rav was most impressed. While he didn’t sign for personal reasons, his position changed completely, and this is also an important development.

Any position of this type carries great significance. For example, when the Chief Rabbi of Tzfas, HaRav Shmuel Eliyahu, was asked if the Rebbe was Melech HaMoshiach, he responded that he is a fitting candidate, halevai, etc. Not long ago, a Chabad rav and a well known rebbe from Yerushalayim who had recently been approached in connection with the campaign for Kabbalas HaMalchus were together in a vacation city in Switzerland. The two chatted, and before departing, the Chabad rav said, “May we merit the coming of Moshiach.” This rebbe replied, “You’re a Lubavitcher, aren’t you? Then he’s already here...”

Of course, this doesn’t always happen. We once sent a delegation of representatives to a very prominent rebbe, who said that he didn’t understand why the Rebbe is making so much tumult about the coming of Moshiach. We presented him with portions of the more relevant sichos on this point, and I believe that it had some positive effect. There are numerous examples of this type.

There have also been some very encouraging instances. I once visited HaRav Yoel Suissa, who complained why we are only coming to him now.

“I WON’T SIGN, BUT I WANT TO STUDY THE MATTER FURTHER!”

One of the more active participants in the p’sak din signature campaign is HaRav Uri Lipsh, head of the evening chassidus kollel in B’nei Brak, who frequently accompanies his brother on visits to leading rabbinical figures. In preparing this article, we spoke with him as well, and asked him about his feelings on these visits:

When you approach a non-Lubavitcher rabbi is there some concern that he will not agree to sign?

Obviously, prior to every meeting, there is a certain degree of tension. However, once the meeting begins, we get a clear indication as to which direction the wind is blowing. If the rav starts asking relevant questions, he receives appropriate answers. Thus, we can say with virtual certainty that the end results will be positive, even though not every rav necessarily signs the p’sak.

I recall that once we went to a certain dayan who represents a large community in the hope that he would agree to sign. We waited for him near his home at the time that he was due to return. When he arrived, we asked to come in. (It is important to note that we never agree to speak by the door. We always ask to come in and speak on the matter in an honorable and respectful manner, a method that has proven most effective.)

This dayan said that he is extremely pressed for time, however he agreed to speak with us for a few minutes. The conversation eventually lasted for three-quarters of an hour.

At the start of the discussion, the dayan immediately emphasized that regardless of what we say he will not sign, as it would be totally unrealistic for a person who holds such an official position to do so. Nevertheless, he said that he was interesting in hearing something on the subject. He asked pertinent questions, and was pleased with the answers he received. Yet, as he mentioned at the outset, he did not agree to sign. He concluded the conversation by stating that he has been involved in rabbinical court decisions for forty years, many of which have been most difficult and complicated. However, he is not an expert on this subject, and he would be happy to hear more about it. Clearly, he was influenced to some extent by our presentation – a very positive development. In fact, on another occasion shortly thereafter, we met at a certain function, where he was scheduled to speak after me. As he began his speech, he told the audience that what he was about to say was nothing compared to what they had just heard. Those in attendance could feel his deep appreciation for the Rebbe, and that is no small achievement.

On the other hand, there are cases where side matters interfere with the main issue. Once we visited with a certain rebbe, who showed much enthusiasm for the subject, to the point that he even began to suggest the names of other rebbes for us to approach on the matter. Suddenly, a member of the household realized what we were discussing, and started to express his disproval. He was soon joined by someone else, and together they made a tremendous raucous. They demanded that we leave the house immediately.

I tried my best to calm them down, while my brother continued speaking with the rebbe, who smiled and said, “When I was younger, I had much more strength to fight over such things, but today I’m simply not willing to fight...”

There is definitely nothing to fear. No rav ever suggested that what we said was against halacha, despite the fact, as I mentioned previously, that not all of them agreed to sign.

For example, I remember our visit to HaRav Shmuel Unsdorfer, who spoke with us with great warmth. He said that prior to Gimmel Tammuz, he was certain that the Rebbe is Moshiach. However, today, after Gimmel Tammuz, where are the sources for suggesting such a thing? I gave over the Maharsha on Tractate Sanhedrin (38b), which explains that the kings of the House of Dovid are renewed, as is the moon. Just as prior to the rebirth of the moon, there must be an absolute state of concealment, and we make Birchas HaChodesh only after its renewal, similarly we find in connection with the kingdom of the House of Dovid.

Rabbi Unsdorfer listened, and then said that according to Shulchan Aruch, he can’t take my word for it, and he must see the sources for himself... He opened the Gemara and learned the sugya for close to half an hour. Afterwards, he lifted his head with a smile and said, “How did you come across this?”

He added that when he comes to the Yud-Alef Nissan farbrengens in Kfar Chabad he does so in order to strengthen the proclamation of “Yechi Adoneinu.” He noted further that he knows that the Sanzer Rebbe also supported this position. Still, he didn’t agree to sign, explaining that he has stopped signing declarations of all types for ten to fifteen years.

I suggested that he take the p’sak din and sign it privately. He took the p’sak, and although he didn’t sign, his words served as a tremendous source of strength for us.

WE MUST CHECK THE SOURCES, AND BE EXPERT IN THEM

What material should a person know in order to approach a rav and ask him to sign the p’sak?

HaRav Yitzchak Lipsh: It can be said without exaggeration that on the subject of Moshiach and the Redemption, a simple Lubavitcher yeshiva bachur usually knows more than most big rabbanim. Naturally, a person should acquaint himself properly with all the sources in order to give over the subject matter in an accurate fashion, especially those portions that explain how the Rebbe can be Moshiach after Gimmel Tammuz, e.g., Tractate Sanhedrin and the aforementioned quote from the Yotzer on Parshas HaChodesh, “And he will conceal himself from them, return, and reveal himself,” which according to Tosafos, was written by Rabbi Eliezer, son of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai.

I understand that you also deal with publicizing the p’sak din?

We haven’t actually dealt with this on a national scale yet, but this is also on the horizon. I am aware of numerous shuls that have hung the p’sak din in a prominent place, which has considerable influence on their respective membership.

You haven’t mentioned the opposition you’ve encountered...

There are those who know about the p’sak din due to all the negative propaganda that has been publicized against it.

There’s a young man with a Litvisher background, who studied for a period of time in Chabad. It turns out that his interest in Chabad has not diminished. Among other things, he is deeply involved in activities pertaining to the p’sak din. He has approached many rabbanim and other leading Torah scholars to show them the p’sak and ask them various questions on the laws of Moshiach and the Redemption, e.g., does Moshiach have to bring documentation verifying that he is a descendant of Dovid HaMelech before he is considered “b’chezkas Moshiach”? He visits all prominent Torah leaders to make certain that they know about the p’sak din and learn about Moshiach and the Redemption. He even opened a website, where he publicizes all his many questions to rabbanim and the answers he has received. In short, when the Rebbe wants the p’sak to be publicized, it’s publicized.

You alluded to the letter that was publicized against your activities. What has your reaction been?

As always, “as they afflicted them, so did they increase and so did they spread forth.” Immediately after the issuance of this letter, we naturally increased in our p’sak din activities and added more signatures. The following day, we met HaRav Broida of Givatayim, and asked him to sign the p’sak. He signed without hesitation, and I clearly felt that his prompt consent to our request was in response to the negative publicity of the day before.

A few words in summation?

First of all, I request that all shluchim and Anash rabbanim take the p’sak din to rabbanim with whom they are acquainted and ask them to sign. If they make the effort, they will see that it is not that difficult. In addition, I make the same request to all your readers – try and you’ll see for yourself. Even if a particular rav does not agree to sign the first time, he may sign after a little persistence on your part. Furthermore, the very fact that this rav now fully understands the subject is no less important.

Let me conclude with an expression of hope and faith in the words of the Rebbe MH”M shlita from the sicha on the p’sak din of “b’chezkas Moshiach”: “reaching the state of ‘he is definitely Moshiach (vadai).’” May we immediately witness the results of our activities, the revelation of the Rebbe MH”M before our very eyes, and may we proclaim before him: Yechi Adoneinu Moreinu v’Rabbeinu Melech HaMoshiach l’olam va’ed!

It's all in what the Rebbe said

 ARTICLE PUBLISHED IN HA ARETZ

Butman Shmuel (Director of Lubavitch Youth Organization)

Much has been written recently concerning the Messiah and redemption, and the central question is: What does the Rebbe say? What is his position? Anyone who wants to recognize the true facts will see that not only did the Rebbe encourage Messianic activities, he initiated them. Even at the beginning of his term as the Lubavitcher Rebbe, at the first official conference in Shvat of 1951, the Rebbe quotes the Midrash that seven righteous people brought the Shechina, the Divine Presence, down to earth, and also that there are seven righteous ones, counting from the first Rebbe who founded Chabad, who will bring the redemption to earth. And his purpose, and that of the "seventh generation," is to actively bring the redemption.
Even then, there were those who dismissed this as the talk of a young man, who at his first conference had already declared that he and his generation would bring the redemption: What will they say of this in Lakewood [the leading non-Hasidic yeshiva] or Bnei Brak? Only that the Rebbe does not take into consideration what is said in either of those places. The Rebbe sent a clear message to the whole world. I have heard it said that when they showed the Rebbe's first article to Reb. Yitzhak Ze'v Halevi Soleveichik, after a lengthy perusal, he finally commented, "He thinks that he is the Messiah ." Put simply, the matter of the Messiah is not just another topic, or even one of the most important ones. The matter of the Messiah is the main topic, the destiny, the very purpose of creation itself! So much so, that everything the Rebbe did, all his international operations, all the Torah and prayer and charity, everything he wrote on every topic all are aimed at one exclusive purpose: to bring the Messiah , actively, in actual fact. This is not one aspect of the Rebbe; this is the Rebbe!  The Rebbe delegated this task to each and every one of us. As he wrote "The only thing we could do is to delegate this task to you: Do everything you can to bring the Messiah in actual fact, immediately!"
And it should be pointed out here that this does not involve that small and marginal group, which stands out because of its extremism. This is a tiny group of individuals, no more than 20 in all, who call the Rebbe things like "Our Creator." Interestingly, many so-called friends of Chabad jumped at this opportunity to blame the entire Chabad movement because of the mistaken beliefs of a few. But there is nothing new under the sun. This is exactly what anti-Semites have always done when they caught a Jew doing something wrong. "All the Jews are to blame," they would say.
Concerning the identity of the Messiah , the Rebbe suggests and more exactly who the redeemer is. Here are just a few of the proofs, from things the Rebbe has said:

 1) "The leader of the generation is the Messiah of the generation." The Rebbe tells us to whom exactly he is referring when he says "leader of the generation."  In order to learn about the Messiah , says the Rebbe, we must learn the matters from the Torah, the Gemara, the Midrash, Hassidut and especially from the writings of our leaders, particularly "records of talks given by the leader of our generation." Everyone knows that by that time, there were over 30 volumes of talks given by the Rebbe! One doesn't have to be a mathematician to understand that one ("the leader of the generation is the Messiah of the generation") and one ("records of the talks given by the leader of our generation") are two!

2) The number 770 in gematriya (numerical value of the letters) equals "Beit Mashiach," the house of the Messiah . This then literally shows that the house of the Rebbe is the house of the Messiah ! [770 Ocean Parkway was the address of the Rebbe's home in Brooklyn].

 3) The Rebbe discusses the midrash in Yalkut Shimoni that, "When the King Messiah comes, he will stand on the roof of the Holy Temple and will announce to the Jewish people that the time of their redemption has come. The reference to the Holy Temple means a minor temple outside the land of Israel, a kind of replica of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, as a preparation for the temple in the future.", This is eminently clear. The Rebbe clearly states: "King Messiah " (crystal clear!) "stands on the roof of the minor temple which is outside the land of Israel." (Nu? You still don't understand?) and says, "The time of your redemption has come." (What more do you need?) And all this was said and ordered printed personally by the Rebbe.

 4) The Rebbe sits on the roof of the minor temple abroad and encourages the singing of "Long live our master, teacher and rabbi, King Messiah forever and ever," with his own sacred hand and body, for all the world to see for over a year. Is there a greater declaration than this?

5) The Rebbe said exactly 30 days before Adar 27, that miyad (immediately in Hebrew) stands for the names of the leaders of the three latest generations: Mashiach (named Menachem), Yosef Yitzhak Duber (the last name of the previous Rebbe).

It is interesting to note that the last part was actually written in the sacred hand of the Rebbe himself! And that the Rabbi added and stressed " Messiah Menachem." Here the Rebbe is explicating the matter as clearly as could be. The Rebbe knew everything, foresaw everything, including all the consequences of his words and actions.  And the Rebbe spoke, wrote, expressed and printed everything very clearly and explicitly. That is why we must make it clear, so that this generation ("the last generation of the exile, the first of the redemption") knows that the Chabad Hasidim are not inventing anything new. They are only repeating what the Rebbe himself said, wrote and published. This is the Rebbe's clear, unequivocal position.
This same Rebbe who calmed us in the Six Day War and in the Gulf War is telling us that G-d wants to show us that the redemption is not some rosy dream or distant fantasy, but that it is something real and tangible that is about to be realized, at any moment. He is informing us that everything is ready, the redemption and the redeemer, and all that is left is for us to get ready.
It should be clearly stated: There is complete agreement among all  Chabad people on this point, that the Rebbe will take us out of exile. This was published in a manifesto just last month, signed by Chabad rabbis all over the world, and in Israel. They conclude with "We will meet again when the Rebbe is here on earth, and he will redeem us."
On this matter there is unanimity among all members of Chabad throughout the world: The Rebbe, King Messiah , will take us out of exile immediately. That is the secret of our existence and of our redemption.!, The writer is the chairman of the World Headquarters to Bring the Messiah . This is one of a series of responses to an article about the coming of the Messiah by David Berger that appeared in Ha'aretz on January 11, 1998.

THESE RELATIONS CAN BRING SUPPORT AND MONEY AND BIG BUILDINGS

WHETHER THE REBBE IS MOSHIACH OR NOT...WELL WHO CARES ANYWAY

RABBI MORDECHAI ELIYAHU AND THE REBBE

CHIEF RABBI OF ISRAEL WITH CHIEF RABBI OF KFAR CHABAD

NETANYAHU WITH THE KIPPA DECLARING "LONG LIVE THE KING MESSIAH"

WE ARE SORRY TO WASTE YOUR TIME AND OUR TIME ON THIS MOST UNHAPPY SUBJECT

NEVERTHELESS IN ORDER TO PROTECT YOU FROM ANOTHER CHAPTER OF FALSE MESSIANISM, WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU INFORM YOURSELVES ABOUT THE TRUE NATURE OF THE LUBAVITCHER REBBE’S LEADERSHIP

WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU FIRST VISIT THE PAGES OF THE EREV RAV AND THE PAGES ON FALSE MESSIAHS IN ORDER TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION

IT IS SO HARD WHEN SOMEONE IS NICE TO YOU

IT IS SO HARD WHEN SOMEONE IS NICE TO YOU. IT MAKES YOU THINK THAT THEY REALLY WANT YOUR BENEFIT, AND THAT THEY CARE FOR YOU. WHEN SOMEONE TREATS YOU NICELY, YOU TEND TO LOWER YOUR DEFENSE AND YOU DON’T JUDGE THEIR MOTIVES ANYMORE.

THIS IS THE WAY OF MISSIONARIES. THEIR GOAL IS TO CONVERT YOU TO THEIR BELIEF. HOW DO THEY ACHIEVE IT? THROUGH KINDNESS AND DECEPTION. THROUGH THEIR UNCOMMON WILLINGNESS TO HELP OTHERS, THEY GAIN THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE WHO ARE LATER CONVINCED OF THE TRUTH OF THE MISSIONARY’S BELIEF.

ALL THE TECHNIQUES USED BY CHABAD ARE NOT NEW. THEY HAVE BEEN USED BY THE CHURCH TO CONVERT INNOCENT PEOPLE TO BELIEVE IN THE DEAD MESSIAH NAMED J-----.

REMEMBER: A FRIEND CAN HURT YOU MORE THAN AN ENEMY

WHEN DEALING WITH SOMEONE YOU PERCEIVE AS A FRIEND, YOU LET DOWN YOUR GUARD. WHY WOULD A FRIEND WANT TO HURT ME OR USE ME? THAT IS WHY FRIENDS CAN HARM MORE THAN ENEMIES.

IT IS PRECISELY TORAH SCHOLARS WHO CAN DO THE MOST HARM TO JEWS

THIS IS OBVIOUS. BECAUSE AN IGNORANT PERSON CAN NOT CONVINCE OTHER JEWS OF HIS BELIEF. IT IS HARD FOR A CHRISTIAQN MISSIONARY WHO KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT TORAH TO CONVERT A JEW TO HIS BELIEF.

BUT SOMEONE WITH VAST KNOWLEDGE IN TORAH AND SECULAR STUDIES, SOMEONE WHO CAN MANIPULATE THE MINDS OF SIMPLE JEWS WHO LONG FOR A BETTER WORLD WITH THE COMING OF THE COMPLETE REDEMPTION AND THE REBUILDING OF THE BEIS HA MIKDOSH, THAT SOMEONE CAN EASILY MANIPULATE THE BELIEFS OF OTHERS. ADD A LITTLE SUPERFICIAL KINDNESS TO IT, AND YOU HAVE A PERFECT FORMULA FOR DECEPTION.

REMEMBER THE SPIES? REMEMBER KORACH? REMEMBER YEROVAM BEN NEVAT? REMEMBER THE KINGS OF ISRAEL WHO DID EVIL IN HASHEM’S EYES? POWERFUL LEADERS WITH GREAT TORAH KNOWLEDGE AND YET THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MISLEADING INNOCENT PEOPLE INTO DISOBEYING HASHEM, CAUSING DEATH AND TRAGEDY.

SHABTAI TZVI ALSO MADE A LOT OF JEWS RETURN TO TESHUVA AND THIS IS WHY RABBIS WERE LENIENT WITH HIM IN THE BEGINNING BUT THEY WERE OBVIOUSLY PROVED WRONG LATER

AT THIS POINT, YOU ARE ASKING: BUT WHY WOULD SOMEONE WANT TO BE MESSIAH WITHOUT HASHEM CONSENTING TO IT? WHAT IS THE PURPOSE?

BUT THE BEST ANSWER MAY BE FOUND IN THE PAGES OF THE EREV RAV. THERE YOU WILL SEE THAT THE SOULS OF THE EREV RAV WILL REINCARNATE BEFORE MOSHIACH’S ARRIVAL IN ORDER TO DEVIATE THE JEWS FROM THE RIGHT PATH.

JUST AS THE SERPENT DECEIVED CHAVA AND ADAM, AND MADE THEM DISOBEY HASHEM’S COMMAND, SO THE EREV RAV DECEIVE JEWS INTO HERESY SO THAT THEY WILL DISOBEY HASHEM’S COMMANDS.

JUST AS THE EREV RAV MADE THE GOLDEN CALF IN THE DESERT AT SUCH GREAT HEIGHTS OF THE HOLY PEOPLE OF ISRAEL, SO A FALSE MESSIAH COMES TO CAUSE TROUBLE RIGHT BEFORE THE TIME WHEN FINALLY HASHEM’S NAME WILL BE EXALTED ON EARTH.

WHAT BETTER WEAPON FOR THE SATAN THAN A SECT OF ORTHODOX JEWS BELIEVING IN A DEAD MESSIAH? CAN YOU IMAGINE WHEN MASHIACH BEN YOSEF ARRIVES AND FINDS A VAST GROUP OF ORTHODOX JEWS DENYING THAT HE IS THE MASHIACH?

THUS IN ORDER TO SAVE INNOCENT JEWS FROM BEING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE FENCE WHEN THE REAL MASHIACH COMES [MASHIACH BEN YOSEF AND MASHIACH BEN DAVID] WE HAVE COMPILED ALL THIS INFORMATION FOR YOU TO STUDY IT AND THEN TO SHARE IT WITH OTHERS, FOR IT IS YOUR DUTY AND YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO SAVE OTHER JEWS AS WELL.

AND REMEMBER DO NOT BE DECEIVED BY ACTS OF KINDNESS. THAT IS NOT THE EPITOME OF KINDNESS, BECAUSE WHEN KINDNESS IS DONE FOR ULTERIOR MOTIVES, IT IS NOT CONSIDERED KINDNESS AT ALL.

AND THIS IS PRECISELY THE DEFINITION OF THE RABBIS OF THE EREV RAV AS BROUGHT IN THE ZOHAR HA KADDOSH (BERESHIT 25A): “AND ALL THEIR KINDNESS, THEY DO FOR THEMSELVES”

 OBJECTIVES:

AFTER REVIEWING THE CONTENTS OF THESE PAGES YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DISCERN FOR YOURSELF THAT:

THE LUBAVITCHER REBBE HIMSELF CLAIMED TO BE THE MESSIAH SON OF DAVID

ALL HIS FOLLOWERS, THE CHASSIDIM OF CHABAD LUBAVITCH BELIEVE THE REBBE WAS AND IS THE MESSIAH AS HE HIMSELF CLAIMED

THE MAIN GOAL OF CHABAD LUBAVITCH IS TO SPREAD THE BELIEF THAT THE REBBE IS THE MESSIAH.

FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE READY TO HEAR THIS BELIEF THEY WILL SAY IT OPENLY. FOR THOSE NOT READY YET TO HEAR THIS BELIEF, CHABAD PATIENTLY WAITS  FOR THE RIGHT TIME TO REVEAL THE “TRUTH”. MEANWHILE THEY KEEP PRACTICING “ACTS OF KINDNESS” TO GAIN THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF EVERYONE

A GREAT TRAGEDY IS IN THE MAKING. UNLESS THE REAL MASHIACH COMES VERY SOON, MAJOR PORTIONS OF PRACTICING JEWS WILL IN FACT HAVE CREATED A NEW FORM OF CHRISTIANITY, G-D FORBID

TODAY’S RABBIS THOSE NOT BELONGING TO CHABAD YET, ARE WORRIED WITH THEIR OWN HONOR AND VERY FEW OF THEM CARE ABOUT HASHEM AND HIS TORAH [AS IS BROUGHT IN THE ZOHAR HA KADDOSH, TALMUD, BOOKS OF MUSSAR] THIS IS THE MAIN REASON WHY THE REBBE AND HIS FOLLOWERS FIND VERY LITTLE OPPOSITION TO THEIR MISSION. AS CHABAD GAINS POWER THROUGH ITS WEALTHY DONORS, MORE AND MORE NON CHABAD RABBIS ARE INTERESTED IN BECOMING THEIR FRIENDS, OR EVEN CHABADNICKS THEMSELVES
